Pull tab Fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland

Help us start the new year off right, by delivering kindness and giving back to families in need right here in Northeast Ohio. This year one of our big initiatives is going to be helping to support the Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland. This simple, fun, family friendly charity campaign has a wide reach helping families staying at Ronald McDonald House experience some normalcy as their children experience medical concerns. Pull tabs are recycle and turned into cash to help fund things like trips to the salon, birthday parties and other fun events to help bring cheer to an otherwise very trying time.

It really is very easy. Simply hold onto all your pull tabs and drop them off at our office next time you stop in for an appointment. Any tab will work; soda, pet food, or soup/veggie can tabs! RMDH has announced their 2025 Pull Tab Palooza dates! This year the event will be hosted on May 3rd from 9am to 1pm! See their website for more details. This is a fun time to take kids and grandkids to Ronald McDonald House and celebrate. They have fun activities like face painting and live music. But rest assured, if you can’t make it to the event to take your tabs, we’ll do the leg work for you as we are trying to become one of the elite, one of the Collect-A-Million club!

So, hold onto those pull tabs and bring them into the office! Charli will be happy to add your tabs to our growing collection as we support this incredible cause!

Operation Backpack

Preservation Retirement is deeply committed to securing futures through thoughtful investment, and we firmly believe that the bedrock of a thriving community lies in the quality of its education.

Operation Backpack, an initiative that supports the children of NE Ohio, is an embodiment of this philosophy. While our primary expertise lies in helping our clients look forward to a reliable retirement, we recognize that the most profound impact we can have on the collective future is by investing in the education of the next generation.

Our clients’ enthusiastic participation, demonstrated through generous donations of supplies and funds, further reinforces this shared vision. Together, we are not just preparing for our individual futures, but nurturing a brighter horizon for all by fostering education at its foundation.

Stronger Than Epilepsy Event 2024

We were thrilled to have had the opportunity to spend the day on Sweetbriar Golf Club on June 24 supporting a cause very close to our hearts, The Epilepsy Association’s 2024 Charity Golf Outing! It was an absolutely beautiful day and we had fun team building through little side games and sharing tips during this entertaining scramble. We even came in 2 under par which definitely counted that as a win! Fun was had, tears of laughter were cried and money was raised to help support an incredible cause! The Epilepsy Association helps the over 65,000 epileptics in the Northeast Ohio area by offering countless resources like free epileptic first aid classes as well as support groups. What a wonderful day spent in the sun supporting this awesome cause!

University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital

As two avid Hawkeye fans, Laura and I met at a University of Iowa Alumni football watch party here in Cleveland. When I proposed a year later, we immediately knew we had to get married on campus and that a Hawkeye football game and tailgate would be an integral part of our wedding weekend!

At the same time, the University of Iowa was building the new Stead Family Children’s Hospital that overlooks Kinnick Stadium, where the Iowa Hawkeye football team plays. Before the 2017 college football season began, news broke that the “Press Box,” a lounge on the 12th floor of the children’s hospital where the patients and their families can gather for breathtaking views of the stadium and the game, would open for the first home game. On social media, one Iowa fan suggested that the team and fans should think up something to do during the game to connect with and cheer up the children in the hospital, and just like that, “the wave” was born. The idea is so simple but so impactful: At the end of the first quarter, all 70,000 fans at Kinnick Stadium look up and wave to the children who are patients in the hospital.

The first-ever “wave” was on Sept. 2, 2017 — the day before our wedding. We are thrilled to have participated in the inaugural wave — the best tradition in all of college sports. It was a highlight of our wedding festivities, and the Stead Family Children’s Hospital is now a part of our family’s story. For us, the wave is a simple expression of one of our core values: that kindness costs nothing but means everything.

We are thrilled to support Stead Family Children’s Hospital, which is Iowa’s only children’s hospital and is dedicated to meeting the health care needs of children and families. Every Saturday, you will find us waving at the kids there at the end of the first quarter from our living room here in Cleveland as we proudly support our Iowa Hawkeyes!

From Stead Family Children’s Hospital: The ability to offer the best possible care for our pediatric patients and their families in a welcoming environment is due, in part, to our generous supporters. Thanks to gifts from individuals, organizations, and communities, we have been able to:

  • Offer programs and services that enhance the emotional well-being of our patients and their families, making the hospital feel as comfortable and home-like as possible.

  • Purchase advanced medical technology that can more easily diagnose or treat childhood conditions

  • Expand and renovate our facilities to reflect our commitment to family-centered care.

Girl Scouts of North East Iowa

Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. It’s a tradition that has linked three generations of my family — my grandma was my mom’s Girl Scout leader, and my mom was my Girl Scout leader.

A lot of people think about Girl Scouts as cookies, camping and crafts. But for me, and so for many other girls and women out there, it is so much more: Girl Scouting is the preeminent leadership organization for girls. I grew up in a small town with few opportunities available to challenge myself or experience diversity. Through Girl Scouts, I was able to take a trip to India for a month when I was 16 years old, and it changed the trajectory of my life. The trip not only exposed me to a culture completely different from mine but it also gave me the confidence that I could do anything I set my mind to — from earning my law degree to performing a flute solo with an orchestra in front of hundreds of people to becoming an investment advisor representative.

I am proud to have been a Girl Scout for more than 30 years, as well as a Gold Award Girl Scout and Lifetime Member. I joined the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of North East Ohio to give back to the organization that has given me so much. GSNEO serves approximately 23,000 girls in grades K-12 and 12,000 adult members in 18 counties in Northeast Ohio.

Today, I’m inspired by how Girl Scouts has stayed true to its more than 100-year-old traditions but has also expanded its programming to accommodate the challenges facing today’s girls, by developing girls’ interests in everything from cybersecurity to democracy to robotics. Near and dear to our hearts here at Preservation Retirement Services is Girl Scouts’ focus on financial literacy and entrepreneurship for girls, which intersects with our mission to help women feel financially empowered and confident in their financial decision-making.

About Girl Scouts: One of the nation’s most respected leadership development organizations, Girl Scouts prepares girls for a lifetime of leadership, success and adventure through a variety of activities, challenges and community-service projects.
